BANGALORE, India– December 16, 2010 – iValue InfoSolutions hosted iStorm 2010, an exclusive annual conclave for Top CIO/CTO at Pattaya, Bangkok in October. The event attracted Top 100+ CIO’s & CTO’s from different verticals across India.
iStorm 2010 provided a unique platform for CXO’s to meet & understand various ways of protecting & managing business differentiators for ensuring profitable growth. With markets returning to growth and product differentiation reducing by the day, coupled with higher cost & attrition, the timing of the event was perfect for Top IT decision-makers of India to discuss, learn from the “Best of breed” technology vendors and from each other’s experience. iValue, a technology enabler in the digital asset protection & management space, along with its technology partners, showcased end to end solutions & services, with IT & business benefit perspective, making the three day event interesting, relevant and compelling for all.
Huawei Symantec led the event with Diamond sponsorship. Array networks, Sophos, Hitachi, iManage, WatchGuard, WebSense, Niksun, Elina Networks were the other proud technology vendors who stole the limelight at the event. Top executive from vendors gave impressive presentations on the current & emerging threat landscape scenario along with what is required to be done to protect & grow business to stay ahead of the threats This led to attract a huge crowd during the stall visits and in turn provided technology partners an opportunity to interact with each of the customer’s one on one to take forward business opportunities.
The highlight of the event was the panel discussion with topic “How CXO can leverage Cloud to play a more strategic & business centric role” evoked passionate discussion and evolved the road map towards cloud adoption and changing role of a CIO.
“Now that a significant part of IT operations gets outsourced to the cloud, the CIO has to change his role. In a way, he may have to assume the role of a ‘cloud information Officer’”, said Satish Das, Chief Security Officer at Cognizant, termed it tongue-in-cheek. “The next generation CIO should think more like a CFO and align IT more to the business”.
“Cloud offers an opex model, which is a services-based model. So a CIO’s role has to continuously change to align with business to offer service delivery,” said Sharad Sadadekar, Associate VP – IT and Technical Services at HDFC Standard Life Insurance.
“Cloud computing is the buzzword and it will really be helpful for organizations across industry verticals especially banking and finance. But as a bank, we are custodians of public money and therefore we cannot take any drastic step in the cloud front unless the security issues associated with it are addressed,” said SKRC Prasad, Head-Information Security, Audit & Compliance, Axis Bank.
“The issues of security, latency and policy control will play a major role before mass adoption of cloud. The trend suggests that if your organization has moved about 60-80 percent of the applications on to the cloud, you are on track. It’s unrealistic to expect organizations move to a 100 percent cloud environment,” said Bhanu Panda, Vice President, International Sales & Business Development, Array Networks.
Following the two days informative and intellectual presentations and panel discussions came the last day of the event reserved exclusively to ensure a total entertainment extended to body, mind and soul with well-organized events at coral island.
The CIOs enjoyed to the fullest. Sanjay Rekhi, SGM Infrastructure Support and Security at Target Corporation said “I’d like to congratulate you and your team in putting together this program. This was an excellent platform, informal and fun way to get key insights into new technology and learning from experts. Security is a key initiative for our company and many of these programs will be run from our Bangalore office. It was good and quite comforting to see that there is sufficient talent available who is not only knowledgeable about tools but is also quite advanced in shaping the security practices.”
“It was a great event of Technology in ‘Land of White Elephants’ show cased thru presentations, Panel Discussions and display of stalls. Of course Cultural night and outing to Coral Island was very memorable and unforgettable. Kudos to the team who did a commendable job in organizing it in a very grand manner” says Narashiman, GM IT at Brakes India Ltd.
